Speaking in Scarves (SiS) works with a number of different vendors to enhance its varietal offerings. Many of the vendors are craftsmen and women who have been plying their trade for many years and mostly present their products to the domestic market by selling them directly from makeshift stalls in one of Addis Ababa's busy markets. Individual stories from selected vendors will be available to help our customers connect more directly with the origins of the products from SiS.
Speaking in Scarves (SiS) brings to you these stunning hand-woven scarves, the production of which is inspired by a greater cause to support poor low-income people living in parts of Addis Ababa. SiS has been moved by this cause and partnered with the Good Samaritan Training Center (GSTC) which is a local NGO operating in Addis Ababa since 2003. The center is currently providing vocational training for 88 destitute young women (ages 18-25) who have been forced to work on the streets to win their livelihood. The skills training such as Hair-styling, Food Processing and Catering, Day Care, Sewing and Embroidery is aimed at equipping them with skills to help them lead better lives. In addition the GSTC is also providing basic education for 110 orphans and poor children (ages 4-7) who could not afford to attend regular school.
Thus, by purchasing these scarves, you would not only add glitter to your look, but also support this noble cause and make a difference in the lives of poor people.
